The 不良研究所 Concert Choir and Bolivar Community Chorus present George Frederic Handel鈥檚 鈥淢essiah鈥� at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 1 in Pike Auditorium on the 不良研究所 campus.
鈥淢essiah鈥� was composed in 1741 and was first performed in Dublin on April 13, 1742. While the work did not receive immediate accolades, it has since become one of the most commonly performed oratorios in Western music.
The text Handel used for this masterpiece is entirely compiled of scripture and the musical demands include a full orchestra, soloists and chorus. Student soloists will be featured in addition to a full orchestra and choir, in keeping with the composer鈥檚 original intention.
