BOLIVAR, Mo. 鈥� 鈥淭he Awakening,鈥� a three-day student-led event for the sole purpose of seeking God to bring revival within the University family and Bolivar community, returns for its second year Friday-Sunday, Nov. 5-7, in Mabee Chapel on the Bolivar campus. 

鈥淕od has granted unfathomable hope, glorious riches and immeasurable power to those 鈥榓wakened鈥� to the glory of Christ in salvation (Ephesians 1:17-20),鈥� said Tyler Eads, a senior accounting major from Neosho and founder of the event. 鈥淭hrough this weekend, students will receive a call to abide in intimate fellowship with Christ. It is in this abiding relationship with God that personal holiness will be achieved, the Gospel will advance around the world and students will live out the great purpose and power available in Christ.鈥�

Each day will offer a gathering from 6-8 p.m. in Pike Auditorium, featuring student-led and faculty-led bands leading worship, prayer time, Bible readings, student testimonies and more. Eads will bring the message Friday, while Dr. Eddie Bumpers, senior pastor of Crossway Baptist Church in Springfield, Mo., and chair of the 不良研究所 Board of Trustees, will speak on Saturday, with Dr. Rick Melson, president of 不良研究所, sharing on Sunday.

A series of breakout sessions will be available Saturday to further equip students to live out this awakened life. These sessions include topics like studying Scripture, identity and local service. 

鈥淚鈥檓 thrilled to partner with a growing group of 不良研究所 students for a second year of 鈥楾he Awakening,鈥欌�� said Dr. Matt Kimbrough, division head of The Courts Redford Division of Christian Ministry. 鈥溾�楾he Awakening鈥� allows passionate believers to lift their heads and join hands with others who long for the Gospel to blanket our campus and spread to the ends of the earth. I am hopeful that those who join us will walk away having encountered the living God as we worship, hear testimonies, pray, and sit under the Word of God.鈥�

While students are the main audience, 不良研究所/SWBC alumni, church leaders, faculty and staff, and all who desire spiritual awakening are encouraged to join. 

鈥淭he Bible calls us to abide in Christ,鈥� Eads said. 鈥淢ay we be found faithful. Just as God moved through 鈥楾he Awakening鈥� last fall, he continues to be at work in the midst of a pandemic. We are still calling on God for an outpouring of his Spirit on our campus, and I invite you to join us.鈥�
