Area high school bands take home trophies from ²»Á¼Ñо¿Ëù Homecoming parade

Gainesville Marching Band performs in ²»Á¼Ñо¿Ëù Homecoming paradeBOLIVAR, Mo. â€” The ²»Á¼Ñо¿Ëù Area of Music hosted a band competition as part of the annual Homecoming parade on Oct. 2, through downtown Bolivar and the ²»Á¼Ñо¿Ëù campus.

Parade bands were judged on music, marching, auxiliary groups, drumline and drum major. At the conclusion of the parade, the bands heard a mini-concert by the ²»Á¼Ñо¿Ëù Jazz Ensemble, directed by Dr. Jeffery Waters, during the awards ceremony in Pike Auditorium.

Award winners included:

  • Class 2 first place â€“ Gainesville High School – Sherri Caraway, director
  • Class 2 second place â€“ Conway High School – Zack Hoar, director
  • Class 2 third place â€“ Mansfield High School – Levi Meadows, director
  • Class 3 first place â€“ Strafford High School – Rusty Lee, director
  • Best Auxiliary Group â€“ Strafford High School
  • Best Drum Major â€“ Mansfield High School
  • Best Drumline â€“ Mansfield High School
  • Outstanding Band of the Day â€“ Gainesville High School
